How NFL streaming rights work

The NFL sells rights by package, not by team. CBS and FOX share the Sunday afternoon windows, NBC has Sunday Night Football, ESPN and ABC share Monday Night Football, and Prime Video has Thursday Night Football. The league also sells standalone games to Netflix, Disney+, and ESPN+.

That is why one service rarely covers a full season. A live TV bundle is the simplest option, while an antenna plus one or two streamers is often cheaper for a single-team household. The calculator on this site compares both approaches using the national broadcast schedule.

NFL streaming FAQ

What is the cheapest way to watch NFL games in 2026?

For broadcast-only games, a free antenna is the cheapest. If you need ESPN or NFL Network, Sling Orange + Blue is usually the lowest-cost live TV option, but it lacks CBS. Adding Paramount+ covers CBS in select markets. A full live TV bundle costs more but covers every national window in one place.

Do I need NFL Sunday Ticket?

Only if you want out-of-market Sunday afternoon games. If your team is playing in a national window or you live in its home market, a local affiliate or a standard live TV service is enough. Sunday Ticket is sold separately through YouTube.

Can I watch the NFL on Netflix, Prime Video, or Disney+?

Yes, for the specific games those services hold. The 2026 schedule includes Christmas Day games on Netflix, Thursday Night Football on Prime Video, and select exclusive games on Disney+ and ESPN+. Those games are not included in a standard live TV bundle.

Why do prices differ from what I see on the provider site?

Prices change, promotions vary by market, and many plans add taxes or regional sports fees. The numbers here are estimates for comparison, not quotes. Confirm the current offer on the provider site.
